Project overview

The expansion of Splashdown Water Park in Goodrington has been a significant project. Over the past year, this development has progressed steadily, showcasing challenging engineering and design. The project included water tanks, concrete slabs, hard landscaping. The estimated value of the project is approximately £750,000.

Expanding the Shipwreck Island

But the expansion doesn’t stop there. A concrete base spanning 1200m2 has been laid, setting the stage for an array of thrilling water attractions (Shipwreck Island). 

Beyond the water attractions, the expansion has also brought about the creation of over 1500 square meters of paved seating and lounging areas. Here, guests can relax and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the park.

And let’s not forget the practicalities—the expansion also includes new roads and footways, ensuring smooth access for visitors from near and far.

Challenges

Central to the expansion are three concrete water tanks. These water tanks are not merely blocks of concrete dumped into a hole; they are constructed from waterproof concrete. Inside the tanks, you have chlorinated, heated water, while outside, there is groundwater. Significant investment has been made in treating the water inside the tanks, so it’s crucial to prevent it from mixing with groundwater. Unlike when building a house, where the goal is to prevent water from leaking in, in this case, we aim to stop external water from entering and internal water from leaking out.
